My overarching theme for 2025 is a quest for peace…mainly from within. After all, the outside world is just a reflection of our inside world. So if we want peace in the world, then we must claim it from within. With each section throughout the year, we’ll explore different aspects of peace using 12 different words that translate as peace in some way…and gradually reveal this year’s Mandala of the Year. Here’s this month’s word:

Sanctuary – A place or feeling of safety and peace

A physical or spiritual place of safety and peace. It can be a sacred space, a quiet room, or a moment of solitude. In Christianity, a sanctuary is a place where one finds divine peace. It’s about creating safe spaces for ourselves and others…internally and externally.

Possible action steps:

  1. Coloring: As you color this section, reflect on ways to create sanctuary within your everyday world.
  2. Practice: Dedicate a corner of your home as a “peaceful sanctuary” and spend time there regularly.
  3. Practice: Create a sacred space using feng shui principles, incorporating items that symbolize safety and peace (e.g., seashells, feathers).
  4. Metaphysical Tool: Place black tourmaline in your sanctuary to ward off negativity and enhance protection.

I do it because my spiritual evolution and creativity require it of me. My mandala designs come about within an active meditative state, connected with my higher self, my spiritual guides and nature spirits. Together, we bring into form, mandala art the allows me to re-connect with my own inner peace and joy, letting me explore and expand my own creative spirit to however far and in whatever direction I want to take it. As part of my own spiritual journey, I encourage, and hopefully inspire, others to explore their own creativity, to help them re-connect with their own inner peace and joy. As a means to that end, I make all of my mandalas available for people to color. Why should I have all the fun?
