2017: Section 6

Download 2017 MotY – Section 6

In honor of the this year’s Chinese New Year which began on January 28, 2017, I’m dedicating the 2017 Mandala of the Year to the Rooster. Each month we’ll explore a trait or symbol of the rooster to see how we can incorporate it into our own lives.

For Section 6 we look at the rooster energy of hard-working.

This month’s section addresses the concept of working hard. When what we’re doing fails to enliven our hearts, then hard work is a drudgery. When what we’re doing comes from our heart’s desire, then the hard work becomes more of a joyful journey. Looking at this rooster, we can see he’s hard at work minding the hens and yet he appears to be in his glory…it’s what he loves to do; it’s what he’s designed to do.

So how do we find the joy in work that is our responsibility to do? Instead of focusing on the drudgery of cleaning a toilet, focus on the joy of having a nice clean toilet. Instead of focusing on the drudgery of doing the dishes, focus on the joy of having all the dishes cleaned and put away instead of dirty and piled up in the sink.

When we find ourselves in the midst of drudgery, check in to find out if what we’re doing results in fulfilling our heart’s desire. If not, either stop doing it or make some changes to create the joyful reward for doing the hard work.

Inspiration

“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” ~ Pelé

Ponder this while coloring this month’s section of the 2017 Mandala of the Year.

Happy Coloring!
